Special Event Ahead: Deciding your OOTD & Makeup

Hey Beauties!

Imagine, a special event coming ahead, and you have no time/money to buy a new dress or make an appointment in the saloon. Does that sound familiar? Being a girl we all have been in this problem at least once by now. As for people like me, who tend to forget their next week's schedule, this can be a never-ending problem. I therefore decided to adopt a few easy habits and train myself with them so i can master my decision making power esp at such times of panic when you can't escape and you don't know what to do.

Be Organised:

Now this is something very special and something you should start doing right now, with no more delays. In fact this is the basic. If you keep your dresses, makeup products and accessories organized you'll rarely find any problem in just choosing from a few. Here are a few tips.

1) Divide your wardrobe into two sections that can be everyday wearable clothes that you would wear to work, at home or while going out with friend or when visiting people. And second section can be the fancy expensive dresses that you'd prefer to wear only in special occasions like weddings, proms, family functions or parties.

2) Separate the jewelry into various sections of bracelets, rings, ear-accessories, necklaces, ankles etc. It will make it a lot easier to find what you'd like to wear with a particular look.

3) Organize your footwear into shoes, sandals and heels. This way you will find your desired pair easily.

Choose the Outfit First:

I used be the kind of person who would choose a makeup look first and later would find an outfit that could go with the makeup, which was complete nonsense but i couldn't help it. Then i started practicing different looks on myself just to get better. But what really helped me was I trained my mind to pick-out the dress first. This can be a tricky part but it's your wardrobe and you can always explore it and do experiments. You should consider the following while picking a dress for a formal/special event.

1) Make sure you're not wearing something indecent, don't show up being a clown. Save yourself the respect and pick out a dress that would go with the event. keep in mind if it's a wedding, a formal dinner, a family gathering or a party. Choose wisely no one else can do this job for you.

2) Consult your BFFs who can search and look and give you advise regarding what to wear. But you have the ultimate decision to make so you're still the in charge, consulting a friend would just make it easier for you to decide.

3) Start from the top, choose the top first as that's the nearest to your face and your top is whats's gonna reflect on your face. People never really remember what color bottom/pants etc were others wearing but they will always remember the top, or it's reflection on your entire personality.

4) Don't try to be different(or something that you're not). Keep it simple and real. Wear what you're comfortable with. Never follow a fashion that ruins your natural style. Go for an outfit that makes you feel and look beautiful rather than something that keeps you uncomfortable and worried for hours.

5) Whatever you choose, be sure it works. Try it first in front of the mirror before taking the final decision, and remember you can always change your mind.

Choosing The Makeup Look:

You are now there with you dress so you can choose the perfect makeup look and the hairstyle that you wanna go with. I can share some very easy yet very helpful tips for choosing the makeup looks for these formal events.

1) Create your makeup look at least once before you actually start doing you makeup on that day.

2) Use a primer, the function can take you hours and you don't want to be a live model for oil painting there.

3) Don't go for too harsh/bold looks it will only show people how bad you need them to focus on your face, (unless you don;t like it of course)

4) If it's day use more matte colors on you're eyes and lips. If it's night time, add a little shimmer in to your look.

5) Line your eyes anyway you like, however rethink about the idea of using lashes and contacts if you're just a random guest in the event.

6) Louder eyes, lighter lips. Lighter/neutral eyes, brighter/bolder lips. That's how it should go if you're guest participant.

7) Do contouring and highlighting as it's a big event but don't overdo.

Hairstyles/Hijabs:

For my hijabi sister, it's too easy as whatever material or head-cap you pick all you gotta do is wrap and twist and give some folds and the magic is done. But for my non-hijabi sisters, you guys too need to have some practice or seek some assistance and you can create the perfect hairstyle. I have always seen girls doing updo's, braids, buns and blow-dry in formal events these days. But you can choose whatever you like, as long as it looks good and you're comfortable with it.

Choosing Footwear:

Choosing footwear to me is the easiest, for events like weddings and gatherings i would wear heels.
For parties I'd go for nice looking shoes or sandals so i can be comfortable in the,
If the dress is plane the shoes are bright, if otherwise, i keep the footwear matching to my bottom usually so it's doesn't make any difference yet adding up to my looks.

Accessorizing:

Choose whichever jewelry you like. You have no restrictions in this area but you still have a few things to think about.
1) Wear less and prominent jewelry to make a style statement.

2)  Bracelets/ watches are perfect if you don't want to look like a walking jewelry outlet.

3) If you neck is deeper/ wider wear short necklaces if you're wearing a dress with smaller necks wear long chains or avoid wearing necklace at all.

4) jewelry defines you collections, so can dig in take you time and find the limited and more appropriate pieces yourself.

I hope you guys will get some benefit out of this blog. Next time you have an event ahead and no time to go out and shop, trust your judgement and decide for yourself. See you all soon.
